for you to enjoy

Greetings!

The new year is here and we're wishing you a pleasant and vibrant start to 2008.

The most exciting news we can share with you is the beginnings of what will become our largest expansion. We are committed to bringing even more fresh hemp foods to you! To do this, we have started construction to renovate and remodel a 20,000 sf facility in our Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada community. Not only will our ability to produce the freshest hemp foods grow by 10x but we will also be building creating a new green energy efficient building and more jobs. We are planning to move in the spring.

Picky eaters and kids LOVE this recipe.  It has the delicious sweetness of hemp and disappears off plates so quickly.

Variations:

Chocolate waffles:  prepare as above but reduce flour to 1 1/4 C.  Add 1/3 unsweetened cocoa and 1/4 C extra hemp to flour mixture.  Add 1/3 C maple syrup and 1 t vanilla to liquid ingredients.

Cinnamon nut waffles: prepare as above except add 1/2 t cinnamon  1/8 t ginger, and 1/8 t nutmeg  to flour and sprinkle around 2 T chopped walnuts or pecans over each waffle before closing lid to bake.

Sugar-Free Gluten-Free Kitchen

Hemp Brownies

"A rich, sugar-free/gluten-free  brownie with

the many benefits of hemp's Omega 3, 6, and 9...Brownies "

         2 Omega-3 eggs

2 T melted extra virgin coconut oil

1/4 C agave plus an extra 2 T for topping

         1 1/2 T organic vanilla

         1/2 C pitted dates

         1/2 C almond milk

1 can 15 oz organic Navy beans

1/2 cup Manitoba Harvest Hemp Seed Butter

         3 teaspoons Stevia Plus powder

2 droppers Liquid Stevia Dark Chocolate

         1/2 C carob powder

         1/4 C unsweetened cocoa powder

         3 T maca powder

         1/2 C brown rice flour

         1 t baking powder

         1 t xanthan gum

1/2 C Manitoba Harvest Shelled Hemp Seeds plus 2 T for topping

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Use a stand up mixer and beat eggs,  melted coconut oil, agave, and vanilla in medium bowl.  Next, in food processor, puree dates and almond milk, then add beans (drained), hemp butter, and Stevia.  Puree again.  Combine this batter to eggs mixture in stand up mixer.

Slowly add in carob powder, followed by unsweetened cocoa, and maca.  Now it starts to look like a brownie mix.  In separate bowl, blend, flour, baking powder, and xanthan gum.  Slowly add prepared dry mixture to wet mixture and blend.  The brownie mixture will feel very thick.  Fold 1/2 cup hemp seeds into mixture.  Spoon mixture into an 8x8 pan that has been dusted with cooking spray and lightly floured with extra brown rice flour.

Sprinkle extra hemp seeds on top and then drizzle the extra 2 tablespoons agave over seeds in a crisscross pattern.  Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until a knife test comes out clean from the middle of the pan.

Recipe will yield 16 brownies.

Testimonial of the Month

Manitoba Harvest,

I have been touting Manitoba Harvest and at long last have my mom's doctor's attention that hemp seed acts as the best possible cleanser (if you get my drift) for elderly patients.

My mother not five months ago was diagnosed as palliative.  The plumbing simply wasn't working and her tummy was rock hard as a watermelon.  When he came the other night to make a house visit, he was astounded at her turnaround and how well nourished she looked.  I've been feeding mom hemp seed together with yogurt and all manner of fruit pureed into a liquid which she consumes with gusto.  And yes, this is a testimonial to your shelled hemp seed primarily.

Many thanks for your help

Cheers,

Andwin

  Tonya Kay's NEW Book

TK with Hemp Seeds FLowing photo

Tonya Kay has been walking her talk for as long as we've had the pleasure of having her on Team Manitoba. We have read this book (beginning to end in one sitting) and found in depth information about exactly why and what is being eaten by an active "raw foodist". The greatest part? You don't have to be any kind of "foodist" to benefit from reading through nutritional panels and itemized daily diets of someone who has chosen the path of living, local and organic foods.

As seen here with our shelled hemp seeds, Tonya also likes to play with her food!

Great in '08 with Hemp

The number one New Years resolution for 2008 in North America is improved health and wellness.  For a fresh start in the New Year, making healthy, cleansing food selections can help you achieve your health goals so you ultimately feel great in the '08.

Enter Hemp:

Often referred to as the "perfect food", hemp is an incredible plant that offers a full spectrum of complete, highly absorbable nutrients.  Specifically, hemp offers a perfect balance of essential fatty acids, chlorophyll, complete protein and healthful fiber; all of which aid the body's innate ability to cleanse and detoxify.

Hemp Oil Cleaning:

If the body doesn't receive adequate essential fatty acids (EFA's) from unprocessed oils, digestive functions may be impaired thus affecting the body's ability to eliminate toxins.  Manitoba Harvest Hemp Seed Oil is always cold pressed, processed without the use of chemicals, and offers a perfect balance of the essential fatty acids omega-3 and omega-6, including Gamma-Linolenic  Acid (GLA).  In addition, Manitoba Harvest Hemp Seed Oil is a rich source of chlorophyll, which aids the body in building blood, eliminating gastrointestinal problems, clearing toxins and oxygenating the tissues.

Green Protein:

The body must have a continuous supply of amino acids to fuel the detox pathways of the liver.  When dietary protein is low, these pathways can get impaired and thus lead to deficiencies in amino acids.  Hemp protein is easy to digest and is unique in that it is one of the very few plant foods that has all the essential amino acids that the body must obtain from the diet.   Manitoba Harvest Hemp Protein Powder contains 50% protein by weight, making it the highest percentage of hemp protein available.

Fiber Frenzy:

Dietary fiber is essential for absorbing toxins in the colon and preventing them from being reabsorbed in the body.  It is also needed to keep the bowels moving freely and in maintaining healthy intestinal flora.  Manitoba Harvest Protein with Fiber contains 14 grams of fiber per serving, which amounts to over 54% of your daily requirement.
