Tonya's Story

"I grew up in a small farming community in south-central Michigan.  My wonderful and loving grandparents’ owned 130 acres and a slaughterhouse and I remember clearly the moment my 8 year-old brain comprehended what was going on between the holding pens and the freezers.  I was a sensitive child and an intelligent child.  Vegetarianism became my default lifestyle immediately in 1984, as a way to rid the guilty-conscious-sick feeling from my dinner table.  Open minded parents observed the situation and supported me wholeheartedly by preparing meatless options at every meal.  I will always hold dear to my heart my mother’s words regarding her finicky 8 year-old daughter, “So you are a vegetarian now---what are you going to eat?”  It is true, until my taste for veggies evolved in my teenage years, I built my strong, dancer body out of Doritos and Coca-Cola. I continued to develop as any fatally artistic, morbidly romantic, people-loving introvert might---discovering gardening, lucid dreaming and a career in the performing arts.  As a professional dancer I have been lucky to live all of my childhood dreams: touring the nation in the Off-Broadway phenomenon STOMP, back up dancing for Kenny Rogers, and doing aerial stunt work in De La Guarda in Las Vegas.  I have also had the pleasure of tap dancing with NYC’s Peggy Spina Tap Company, being featured in television pilots and national commercials in LA, and having my choreography performed in musical theatre throughout Chicago. 20 years vegetarian/10 years vegan/2 years raw and living my dreams...Nature does not stop with one pretty little flower, but fields and fields without fences! I discovered hemp nutrition for quite the same reason I discovered the raw food diet – I was Bipolar (surprise!) and was finished (for the last time) with medications.  After seven years of consuming psychiatry’s and society’s recommended/advertised/shall we say “pushed” chemical cures, I was effectively still Bipolar, only the way I saw it, poisoning myself in the process.  Since going raw and discovering hemp foods, I am happily medication-free for the first time in my adult life (another flower in the field!).  Other benefits include increased energy, weight stabilization, glowing complexion and self-love – all integral side effects for the professional athlete, performer and all extraordinary human beings."If you don’t want average results, don’t do what the average person does… "
